Have you ever hosted a Vacation Party? You’re probably wondering what in the world is a vacation party. Well, I am here to tell you what it is and how to plan one. If you’re a type A personality, then you know that planning and organizing is important to you. I love to have visuals and I love to plan and place my thoughts and ideas in a way I can visually see them. When I can visually see my ideas and plans, it becomes real and I love seeing a vision become a reality.
I have a group of friends that I have known for a long time and we have always planned on taking a trip in 2023 to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday, and also our 15 year wedding anniversary. Well, 2023 is finally here and now it’s time to put our ideas into reality. With that, I present to you my 2023 vacation party. A vacation party can take the stress of group travel and and simplify the decision making process. We all know traveling with a group can be stressful so take some of that stress off the planning process.
Our party was focused around deciding as a group where we will travel in 2023 for our group trip. I put together a presentation using Canva and listed our options as well as the cost per couple. We had established some preliminary items such as going somewhere warm and preferably an all-inclusive. We also established and determined a desired budget. The focus was to review the options as a group and vote on which location would be our final destination.
To make this party fun, I did a tropical theme since our options were going to be somewhere warm and sunny. I also had food options that focused on our theme. We had pineapple and ham pizza (yes, pineapple can go on pizza), chips and guacamole. You can’t have a tropical party without some delicious drinks! I made margaritas and pineapple mojitos! To make the party a hit, I provided some fun props and festive items to get everyone excited! I had some fun sunglasses and everyone received a lei when they walked through my door.
Now for the fun part, my presentation! The week before my party, I researched different destinations that offered all-inclusive options and close to being around our budget. I focused on cost, destination, room type and most importantly, reviews. Never ever book without doing your research. We all wanted either an ocean view option or a swim up option so I focused on providing prices solely around the room type we were wanting. I handed everyone pen and paper and went through each option and allowed everyone to ask questions and make notes as we went through the presentation. To save time on my presentation, I linked the websites and pulled the website up during each presentation to review pictures, amentias, etc. Once we were done reviewing the options, I briefly did a run through of each option and handed everyone three sets of paper. We each wrote our first, second, and third pick. Our first pick equaled 5 points, second 3 points, and our third 1 point. We then tallied up the points and the destination with the highest amount of points was the winner! No arguments, no stress and everyone was happy! Luckily, all of us but one had the same selection for our top first pick.

This was my first time doing this and we really had so much fun! If you’re planning a group trip, considering doing something similar. It takes the headache and stress out of trying to make decisions with multiple people. You may have one or a few that may be disappointed in the destination that was selected, but it’s fair and the majority wins.
